(ooc: Stealing the idea from Teen!Japan. If you want to know what Rus thinks of your character, post a comment!)

First, one of the Englands I've met. ([info]misterunionjack)

IC: Well, this England is very grumpy and very strange. We haven't talked for a while... although it's probably for the best... he doesn't seem to like me much...

OOC: Nn, Rus isn't fond of his temper. Or being mistaken for a book, but he thinks of England with respect.

Another England I've met. ([info]frangleterre)

IC: He's only the second England I've met, but he seems less moody than the first one. Over all, he's nice and I don't mind being with him. Also, I know a secret of his, but I'm not planning on telling.

OOC: Rus looks up to this England and would go to him for help with any problems. Or just company in drowning his sorrows.

An irritable person with a curly hair. ([info]rossotesoro)

IC: ...We didn't get along very well.

OOC: Oh Lovino, didn't Grandpa Rome teach you to choose your enemies wisely?

A China I saw in a strange room. ([info]chinaniisan)

IC: ...I'd rather not talk about anything that happened in that room.

OOC: He's still embarrassed. I'll update this part once there's a meeting without dresses.

A Lithuania ([info]notrussias)

IC: A modern Lithuania... I wonder how this will turn out... Especially with such an event coming up...

OOC: Hmm... only one conversation so far. Can't do much with that. :(

...bigger me. ([info]rossiya_red)

IC: ...I'm not sure what to think about him right now. To say the least, he surprises me, in many many ways.

OOC: Yeah... the last part explains itself if you've looked at a history book lately.

Miss Hungary... ([info]cutelilwarrior)

IC: Hungary... I never thought I could find a lady as strong and kind as her. But, it seems even she has a soft spot. And I'm pretty sure I know who it is.

OOC: *sing-song* Rus knows your se~cret! It seems he knows everyone's secret. Hmm...

Mister Spain... ([info]aconquistador)

IC: One of the only people that doesn't seem afraid of me... he's a good friend and I hope to see him soon.

OOC: Awwww!

First off, Happy New Year's!! May this year be much better than the last!

There a reason I didn't post something like this before. There is a lack of documented and reliable history on pre-12th century Russia. But, I'll try the best I can.

Starting off, Russia wasn't an independent country, or a country at this point. He was part of a state called Kievan Rus' along with Ukraine and Belarus which was under Scandinavian rule (Don't be surprised if he holds a grudge.). The main source of income was trade, in which one of the trading partners was the Eastern Roman Empire (better known as the Byzantine Empire). However, when Rome fell, Kievan Rus' fell a century later due to lacking another trading partner as profitable.

His fighting strength was amazing. He dealt the killing blows in Khazaria and the Bulgarian Empire. He even won wars against Rome! The wars were simply for trade agreements (and possibly pressing marriage between royal families) and did nothing to be a true threat.

Although the people were further spread apart than Western Europe, it was the largest contemporary state in area and culture. Literacy was high in it's cities as birch bark documents show. They even wrote love letters and cheat sheets for school! Capital punishment was seldom used and women have some rights back then (mostly property and inheritance).

And that's what I've got. Any corrections, help, or if you just want to say hi, please comment.
21st-Dec-2008 09:28 pm - Hello... (ooc)

(Hello! *insert wide awake explination that I will be roleplaying a Russia ???-1100s*

...The lack of reliable history before Moscow will make this Little Russia very hard to roleplay... the only thing I could extract from the jumble I found was that he had a very love/hate relation with Rome Antique... and the Mongols...

Any help would be welcomed.)

(And icons... I need those too...)
